It's been cold and sunny the past couple of days and the children have been out playing with their Christmas presents. This is Rauri all bundled up against the winter chill.

The weather has been dreadful these past few days with icy winds and persistant rain, most of the time walking anywhere is not a pleasure. There is the odd break for an hour or so when the winds drop, the rains stop and the sun breaks through giving a welcome window of bright light. I took advantage of of one such respite and took a walk along the riverbank where I spotted this duck wading in the shallows.

This sketch of Sunday's pale crescent moon hanging in the sky with planets Venus and Jupiter, in the last light of the winter evening, was done from memory....note to self: crescent moons are exceedingly difficult to paint.
