Fading Autumn Light, Near Ballyfinnane
oil on primed card 4" x 3¾"
sold
Yesterday afternoon I went to visit friends who live a few miles up the hill above the town, I left there for home as the light was fading. The first frost of the year had been forecast and the cold air had formed a light patchy mist. I was annoyed with myself for forgetting my camera as there were some beautiful images of the last light trickling across the trees and the landscape. By the time I had figured out how to work the camera on my phone the light had all but gone but I did manage to capture one image of the vestiges of remaining light and have produced this small oil sketch from it.

Riverbank, Cois Li
oil on primed card - 4" x 6" Unframed
available
A new amenity walk has been opened near to where I live. The original path along this small river was always muddy and overgrown, a dumping ground for everything from builders rubble to dead animals. The transformation is a most welcome asset to the town. While there are no dramatic or grand sweepng views there is much to catch the eye and delight the senses. I'm sure it will be the inspiration for many future paintings as it has been for this one.
